Adopted from the Seattle Animal Shelter six years ago, Carmen enjoys the good life with daily trips to the park. Instead of a classic portrait, the goal for this session was to capture the time this 4-legged fur child & her human companion spend walking and playing together at one of their favorite places.

Rez Dogs: Laguna & Lucy

On Christmas Eve Day, 2009, two friends found themselves on a trip from Portland, Oregon to Sacramento, California to bring two dogs from the Fredonia Humane Society in Arizona to Portland for adoption. Carrie and Cheryl planned on fostering each dog until homes could be found, but within a few days, each adopted the dog they were fostering. Carrie adopted Laguna (aka Goonie), a mixed breed dog she'd first met as a puppy while volunteering at FHS. Cheryl adopted Gracie, also a mixed breed who strongly resembles a Pit Bull Terrier, who became Gracie-Lu, and is now known as Lucy, Lucy Lu or Lulu. These dogs had come from an area known as The Gap on the Navaho Reservation. Lucy had been picked up wandering near a dump with a litter of pups. Laguna had been picked up as a pup on a separate trip.

Indy!

Four years ago, when Indy was a puppy, no one imagined he would grow to 100 lbs. Although the specifics were unclear, he was described as a "Boxer/Bulldog Mix." This is Indy today... a giant lover-boy, not real coordinated, but a whole lotta fun!

Wiener on the Loose

On the first day of Spring, this little Dachshund, named Copper, stopped by my house for a visit. He didn't seem to be in any hurry to leave and he had a Chihuahua buddy with him, so I wrangled them into my backyard and called his people.

While we waited for them to show up, Copper was kind enough to let me take his picture a few times.
